If you know us – you’ll know we have a very special birthday coming up soon: Omni’s 10th birthday.
10! September 15th 2015.
We can hardly believe it either!
Anything but random – it was probably written somewhere, but it was April 2015 the three Omni partners decided the ‘what ifs?’ around the kitchen table were going to become ‘where?’ ‘what? ‘who?’ and ‘how(much)?’
That was our ‘once upon a time’ time. Since then we’ve written screeds about Omni’s inception, and development. We’ve chronicled honestly our highs and our lows and like all the best fairy stories, ours has had heroes, (many) villains, (one or two) guests, and dragons to be slain. We’ve acquired astonishingly kind friends offering help and assistance along the way and just this year, five years after the horrors of COVID and energy bills tripling – we feel as if we have ‘and they all lived happily ever after’ very much in our sights. Thank-you.
To be here, celebrating alongside the most astonishingly committed, big-hearted, creative, professional, funny, diverse teams–and remembering those multitudes who’ve helped us pave the way–to paraphrase Ray Davies, ‘I’m thinking of the days, I won’t forget a single day, believe me.’
So, a couple of name drops: to Alan Shearer–not that one–Omni’s own. You supported us from the get-go, and we’re so grateful. Jay Rayner: thank-you. The nameless bank manager, back in 2015, whose job was being deleted – but made the time to sign off on our loan as his last act: thank-you!
And too, too many others… not least our welcoming, colourful, receptive, enthusiastic, vocal, curious customers. You’ve encouraged us to be bold, then bolder, creating menus with affinities to cultures and looking across the whole of SE Asia. Our repertoires have expanded and so–it seems–has your appetite for something new, something melded. Brilliance, virtuosity, flair– it’s what we strive for and hope you agree – that’s what we bring to you.
Oh–and babies–babies galore! Omni Cafe Partners has become Omni Cafe Partners–and sons! So many babies. Wonderful.
And how will we celebrate?
We are stacked to the rafters with happy guests attending our FOUR birthday parties held over September (all sold out–thank-you all!). We’ll be decked out in all our finery; there will be small plates bursting with wonderful flavours, reimagined Omni classics, cake, candles and maybe a round of Happy Birthday! A staff party for faces old and new and much-loved. A huge grin on all our faces… so come, bring stories, bring pictures… you made Omni what it is, with love and gratitude.
Omni Turns 10
Well... that didn’t take long. All four of our 10th Birthday Bashes are now officially SOLD OUT — and we’re feeling every bit of the love.To everyone who grabbed a ticket: thank-you. And to everyone who’s walked through our doors over the past ten years — whether for a quick coffee, a big celebration, or just a quiet bite with mates — this one’s for you too.We’re a family-run business blessed with a tight-knit team, and from our very first service to our tenth year in Monkseaton, Omni has always been about more than just food. It’s about community. It’s about people. It’s about you.So here’s to a decade of clean plates, fresh flavours, belly laughs and belly pork.We’re proud. We’re grateful. Cancellation Policy - please read... A reservation for tables Tuesday to Saturday is cancelled very easily – we know life gets in the way sometimes – please refer to your booking confirmation email for further instructions - if you didn't book online please call the cafe.Supper Clubs...
If you really need to cancel (really need!) Please contact us as soon as you possibly can to let us know: on the day is too late.
Cancellations made before the day will be offered a place at a future Supper Club - although it may not be the next one as we sell out so quickly.
But please try to come... in these strange days your empty table leaves a gap in the café ... and we need you to help us create a warm, convivial evening for all!(If for any reason we are advised to close down and our event cannot go ahead - our supper clubs will be rescheduled.)

You can make a reservation using the calendar at the top of this page. If you can’t access your preferred booking date or time, this means that we are fully booked or closed. Please note - you can only book outside tables over the phone. If you would like to make a booking and your party size is larger than 12 people, please email info@omnicafe.co.uk. We also offer private hire on school nights and Sundays. To cancel or amend your reservation please refer to your booking confirmation email for further instructions. Looking at our bookings diary for larger private groups into 2025, we see we've already a really diverse range of bookings - and that's exciting! We look forward to welcoming: a 1st birthday, followed closely by an 80th - there’s christenings, weddings, reunions too! The room is yours to transform - we're there to listen, assist, talk through menus and make it all happen with warmth and professionalism.
